Train communication network (TCN)

TCN / TRDP communication

The basic components of the communication network for rolling stock ( TCN – Train Communication Network) are the Wire Train Bus ( WTB bus) ensuring data communication within the entire set and the Multifunction Vehicle Bus ( MVB bus) for data exchange (communication) within the rolling stock or a fixed group of combined rolling stock (consist). Each consist connected to the WTB bus must be equipped with a WTB communication node (so-called WTB Gateway ). The MVB communication network can also be connected via this node; in this case we are talking about the TCN WTB/MVB Gateway.

The AMiT company offers a complete TCN communication solution to ensure interoperability between different vehicles according to IEC 61375 . WTB nodes can integrate any combination of 3 types of local communication consist – MVB, CAN and Ethernet.

Two hardware solution concepts are available – modular (bathtub) and compact . The van concept supports redundancy at the level of the communication node (gateway) and the power source, which ensures high reliability and availability of train communication. All communication buses are certified according to UIC 556 , the actual design of the solution meets EN 50155 . For own design and diagnosis of TCN communication, AMiT and WTB and MVB supply bus analyzers .
